#ƵTBT: A bird’s-eye view of Ƶ’s campus in 1950, and now

In this edition of #ƵTBT, we uncover aerial footage of campus from 1950 and compare it to the Ƶ campus of today.

In the #ƵTBT series, the Ƶ News Bureau, along with Archives & Special Collections, will flash back to the past to take a look at Ƶ over the years. You will find videos, newspaper clippings, photos and more to celebrate Ƶ’s past, while looking ahead to the future. Follow along on E-Net and the university’s ,Ի pages every Thursday to see what we dig up.

In 1950, Leon Edgar Smith was serving as Ƶ’s fifth president and had already led the campus through the Great Depression, three fires, World War II, and later, the Korean War.

Under Smith, the campus also continued to expand. Both Trollinger House and Alumni Gym, which was built to honor alumni who died in the world wars, were opened in 1950.

While several of Ƶ’s key campus buildings already existed 69 years ago, you’ll find in the following video, the university has come a long way since then.
