A memorial service for Melody van Lidth de Jeude, an instructor in the School of Communications who died late last month, will take place Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Orange United Methodist Church at 1220 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Chapel Hill, N.C.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ senior Cedric Pulliam, a political science and international studies double major with aspirations of joining the U.S. Foreign Service, will participate this summer in a highly selective national program that introduces scholars to diplomatic officials and career opportunities in international relations.

A team of four ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ business school students won first place this month in a national case competition that measured the ability to interpret, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and communicate a solution to a management accounting problem.

Two ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ professors and eight students spent several days in Zambia late this spring to help Habitat for Humanity with building homes for orphans and vulnerable children impacted by HIV/AIDS.

Nineteen ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ alumni from the Class of 2011 will return to the classroom this fall as part of Teach for America, a national nonprofit that recruits and trains new college graduates to help erase educational inequities found in many urban and rural low-income communities. It is the largest number of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ alumni ever selected into the program for the same academic year.
