A memorial service for Melody van Lidth de Jeude, an instructor in the School of Communications who died late last month, will take place Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Orange United Methodist Church at 1220 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Chapel Hill, N.C.

������Ƶ senior Cedric Pulliam, a political science and international studies double major with aspirations of joining the U.S. Foreign Service, will participate this summer in a highly selective national program that introduces scholars to diplomatic officials and career opportunities in international relations.

Nineteen ������Ƶ alumni from the Class of 2011 will return to the classroom this fall as part of Teach for America, a national nonprofit that recruits and trains new college graduates to help erase educational inequities found in many urban and rural low-income communities. It is the largest number of ������Ƶ alumni ever selected into the program for the same academic year.

Michelle Jones, assistant director of Career Services for Arts and Sciences, has received a $1,500 Professional Development Scholarship from the Southern Association of Colleges and Employers to use for professional development activities.

Kevin Burrows G'10, of the School of Communications’ iMedia graduate program, and Tom Nelson, an associate professor from the School of Communications, traveled to Cloud County, Kan., the week of May 22, 2011, to construct an interactive website for the county’s museum and historical society.
