Town & Country, the oldest continually published general interest magazine in the United States, picked ������Ƶ in an 11-page feature story on top colleges in the September 2011 issue. The top colleges were recommended to the magazine by counselors at dozens of private high schools across the country.

They look and feel the same as the caps and gowns used in previous ceremonies, but when candidates for ������Ƶ’s Master of Education participate in their Aug. 20, 2011, Commencement exercises, as part of the university’s sustainability commitment, their regalia contained fabric made from 100 percent recycled plastic bottles.

������Ƶ's chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity has been named one of the best in the nation and was recently recognized by the national organization with the Buchanan Cup, an award that showcases outstanding chapter performance and named for former fraternity grand president Edwin Buchanan.

������Ƶ junior Carter Kozak, a computing sciences major, earned one of 100 competitively awarded student positions at the International TeraGrid Conference held July 18-21 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

������Ƶ's new PA program, which enrolls its first class in January 2013, was featured in the July 25 edition of the Greensboro News & Record.

A new undergraduate exchange program created this month between ������Ƶ and Koç University in Istanbul, Turkey, will allow students to study abroad in a part of the world steeped with culture, history and art at a time when academic interest in the Middle East is blossoming.

The 2012 edition of the Fiske Guide to Colleges names ������Ƶ one of the nation's top 25 "Best Buy" private universities. The best buy schools are recognized for the quality of their academic offerings in relation to the cost of attendance.

Senior ������Ƶ Communications student Philip Kimbrough directed the winning film in the 2011 Sprite Refreshing Films contest. His work was shown at the Los Angeles Film Festival earlier this summer.

For the first time since their creations in 2008, incoming Watson and Odyssey Scholars took part this week in a specially designed orientation program that introduces the academically talented students with financial need, or no family history of college, to resources available to them as ������Ƶ students.

From researching new chemical methods of detecting explosives, to the mathematical modeling on synapses related to epileptic seizures, ������Ƶ students taking part in a summer research program shared their work July 22 in a series of morning presentations that showcased a variety of academic disciplines from across campus.
