Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine has ranked ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ among the nation’s top 50 best values in private higher education and the #9 university in lowest total costs, a distinction published in the magazine’s December edition. The 2010-11 ranking is the fifth consecutive top-50 placement of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ by Kiplinger’s.

The Department of Environmental Studies has created an additional major, and a new minor, for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students with an academic or career interest in the fields of sustainability, wildlife ecology and conservation.

EdTech, a magazine focused on technology applications in education, features ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ in its September/October edition. The article, titled "Building the Smarter Classroom," says that ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ is "taking instructional technology to the next level," with "pioneering collaborative classrooms and teaching students real-world skills."

Upon learning how boredom plagues troops in the Middle East, incoming ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ freshman Peter Gallagher and a friend started Games for Heroes, an organization that to date has collected more than $100,000 in hand held video games and cash that today keep hundreds of off-duty soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan entertained.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ sophomore Carter Kozak, a major in computing sciences, earned one of 114 competitively awarded student positions at the International TeraGrid conference held Aug. 2-5, 2010 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
