Death of David Edmond Wesley Schlosser ’11
June 4, 2011
David Edmond Wesley Schlosser of Greensboro, N.C., who graduated from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ on May 21 with a bachelor's degree in computer science, died unexpectedly on June 2. A funeral liturgy will be held Monday, June 6, at 11 a.m., at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2210 North Elm Street, Greensboro.
“Eye on iMedia” wins national award for Career Services

A team of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ staff and graduate students led by Ross Wade, assistant director of Career Services in the School of Communications, won an Innovative Excellence Award on June 2 from the National Association of Colleges and Employers at the organization’s national conference in Dallas.

Associate professor Cynthia Fair, chair of the Department of Human Service Studies, has co-authored with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ alumni two articles focused on a longitudinal assessment of the Chapel Buddy Program, a developmental mentoring program that pairs kindergarten students with 6th grade students at a school in Greensboro, N.C.

Southern Conference honors Dr. Bryan and Janet Latham

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ trustee Dr. Bryan Latham and his wife Janet are among 12 recipients of the Southern Conference's 2011 Distinguished Service Award. Each of the SoCon member institutions select honorees for their contributions to the advancement of the schools and their athletics programs. The Lathams will be honored at a dinner in Charleston, S.C. on June 1.
Senior’s efforts leave legacy at local high school

It wasn’t enough for Victoria “Tory” Hill to simply show up for student teaching, give her lessons, and then go home. For the Spanish major who graduates Saturday from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ, time spent this spring at Eastern Guilford High School will benefit students for years because of her initiative to support Spanish speakers in a school with few resources to help them better learn their native language.
Family of 1911 alumna returns to campus for Commencement

Mary Bryan "Billie" Holt has had May 21, 2011, circled on her calendar for quite some time, but not because she has a child, a grandchild or even a great-grandchild graduating from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ. Rather, Holt will attend Saturday's Commencement Exercises to honor her mother, Affie Camelia Griffin, who graduated from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ College a century ago and delivered a commencement address to fellow members of the Class of 1911.
