The NC Emerge 1G Summit was hosted and led by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's Examining Disparities in Educational Access Living Learning Community and drew attendees from students around the state.

The new scholarship gifts and commitments announced by President Leo M. Lambert and a group of key university volunteers on Friday come from seven inspired donors.

Monday's gathering on Scott Plaza in front of the Alamance Building offered an opportunity to welcome new and returning members of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy, the university's college access and success program for local high school students.  

Members of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy's Iota Class were joined by friends, family and supporters on May 16 for a celebration of their success. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy Assistant Director John Pickett presented information about the academic and non-cognitive skills necessary in the college-planning process to enhance college access and success efforts.  

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy Assistant Director Jenni Johnson participated on a panel discussing how to support undocumented students in higher education.  

The memorial service in the Sacred Space of the Numen Lumen Pavilion offered the opportunity to celebrate the life of Noiles, an alumna and long-time supporter of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ. 

Noiles, who passed away in February, and her late husband, Doug, were generous supporters of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ and offered significant backing for the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life and the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy.  

Her support created the Vera Richardson Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life and helped launch the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy.

The award will support "Wildlife Studies: Critical Carnivores," a year-round learning experience that exposes secondary school students to the world of wildlife science through a focus on carnivorous mammals.
