Campus Compact has named Amy Belfer '19 a recipient of a Newman Civic Fellowship, which recognizes and supports community-oriented students and is named for Frank Newman, a founder of Campus Compact. 

Assistant Professor of Human Service Studies Carmen Monico writes about her Fulbright research into the root causes of migration for at-risk youth in Latin America and the programs designed to keep them home. 

Professors Raj Ghoshal and Katherine Johnson facilitated a student discussion of Peter Singer's "The Life You Can Save: Doing Your Part to End World Poverty," as the inaugural Read On ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ event.

The panel discussion on health, wellness and society sponsored by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ and the Burlington Times-News will be held on April 11 at 7 p.m. 

During winter 2017, College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) faculty partnered to educate students on sexual assault, child abuse, human trafficking and women offenders and to collaborate with community organizations. Outreach activities were supported by a Health Promotion Mini-Grant and the CAS Small Enhancement Grant.

A human service studies course has received national recognition from Learning By Giving Foundation and additional funding for class projects.

Guatemalan graduate student Marco Saz visited ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ to immerse himself culturally in the United States and share his expertise on education with youth at risk with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students, faculty and staff.

In a partnership with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's community partner Crossroads and with the support of an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's Kermode Center Community Partnership Initiative grant, a Human Service Studies Department professor and her students presented a film series on sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking in the United States, as part of an ongoing community outreach program addressing these critical global issues locally.

The statewide coalition of colleges and universities also recognized an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ student with its Community Impact Award for leadership and service. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ faculty joins a diverse community of scholars promoting community health. The capacity-building activity was organized by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's New Connection program in Denver at the end of October 2016.
