Walker Helms ’19, a political science major who double minored in sport and event management and leadership studies, from Radford, Virginia will transition to this fall and credits the Student Professional Development Center with supporting him throughout the admissions process.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students joined President Connie Ledoux Book and other community leaders on Wednesday to kick off the annual Women Build, an effort by local women to fund and build a new Habitat for Humanity home. 

The house on Hampton Court is the 167th built by Habitat for Humanity of Alamance County

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ student-athletes more than doubled their volunteer presence with nearly 40 serving in second year with Garrett Elementary’s reading initiative as part of the Read Across America program.

 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students in the Foundations of Leadership class have worked together with local elementary students this spring to brainstorm a project to showcase student experiences at Newlin Elementary.

The Fraternity & Sorority Community partnered with Campus Kitchen to host a food drive as part of Greek Week that collected food for local community partners, Allied Churches and Salvation Army, to serve those suffering from food insecurity in Alamance County.

 

Audrey Kennett '21, a member of the women’s golf team, showed up to Habitat for a build shift over a year ago and is now joining the campus chapter’s leadership team as next year’s service coordinator.

 

In partnership with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity, the Interfraternity Council is participating in the second annual Stud-a-Thon, working to complete the 28th house built by our campus chapter. 

 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ strives to change students’ lives through academics and involvement, but often students also have the chance to meet lifelong friends and sometimes even their future spouse. For Katie and Reed LaPlante, this happened on their first day of college in 1999.

Ashley Berman is an active member of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Volunteers! serving in a variety of positions, including her current position as one of the executive directors for the organization.
