A group of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students volunteered at a Habitat for Humanity building site in Burlington on Friday as part of the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ 's Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement is a proud partner in America Reads, a national initiative established in 1996 by President Bill Clinton designed to ensure that every child can read independently by the end of third grade.

Service opportunities, gatherings and other special programs at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ during January will commemorate the life and work of the late civil rights leader.

The NC Therapeutic Riding Center in Mebane, North Carolina, offers equine centered activities and therapies that help empower riders to create a healthy and happy lifestyle.

The Alternative Breaks Program offered the mid-October experience to introduce students to social issues that impact communities in North Carolina.

During Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Dining and Campus Kitchen are collaborating to help fight food insecurity in Alamance County. Donate five canned goods at Lakeside Dining Hall and receive a free meal. In addition, the Faces of Homelessness Panel will be Monday, Nov. 12.
