The N.C. Council for Teachers of Mathematics recognizes outstanding mathematics education students at colleges and universities across the state in an effort to encourage student enjoyment of mathematics and mathematics education.  

Faculty members were recognized on Aug. 20 for excellence in mentoring, service and leadership, teaching and scholarship. 

Aaron Trocki, assistant professor of mathematics, recently had his research paper featured on Math Ed Podcast - .

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ President Connie Ledoux Book presented the medallion to two retired faculty members and two steadfast supporters of the university during an event marking the start of a new academic year. The university also recognized four named professorships during the event. 

Ryne VanKrevelen, lecturer in statistics, presented joint research on "Efficacy of 'The Islands'-based Projects Compared to Student-Collected Data Projects in Introductory Statistics Courses" at the 2018 Joint Statistical Meetings in Vancouver, BC, Canada. 

Awtrey, an associate professor of mathematics at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, received the Henry L. Alder Award from the Mathematics Association of America at its national MathFest conference. 

Jan Mays, senior lecturer in mathematics, and Aaron Trocki, assistant professor of mathematics, presented research at the Mathematical Association of America’s Annual MathFest Meeting in Denver, Colorado, held Aug. 1-4, 2018.

In this course, Associate Professor of Mathematics Alan Russell stresses the importance of exploring one’s past in order to see the possibilities for the future.

More than 50 ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ undergraduates were joined by several from other colleges and universities participated this summer in SURE, one of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's signature undergraduate research opportunities. 

Kirsten Doehler, associate professor of statistics, presented on “Diversity-Related Projects in an Introductory Statistics Course” at the 10th International Conference on Teaching Statistics held July 8-13 in Kyoto, Japan.
