ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ to launch revised Teaching Fellows program in 2012-13

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ will revise its Teaching Fellows program following recent action by the North Carolina General Assembly to phase out funding for the North Carolina Teaching Fellows program. The new ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ fellows program will recruit outstanding students nationally as well as those from North Carolina who want to pursue careers in education.

Alumni Field House achieves LEED Gold certification

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s Alumni Field House has earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, which awards the internationally recognized benchmark for design, construction and operation of high-performance, environmentally friendly buildings.

Community celebrates life of Verona Danieley in memorial service

Family and friends of former ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ First Lady Verona Daniels Danieley ’49 celebrated her life Monday afternoon as hundreds of mourners filled ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Community Church for a memorial service that honored a woman who “set the gold standard as a builder of community.”

Verona Daniels Danieley, 87, a fixture of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ community for decades as wife of president emeritus Dr. James Earl Danieley, died June 24 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, N.C., following a brief illness.

Student leaders collected more than $28,000 this year from seniors, their parents, grandparents and friends through the Senior Class Giving Campaign, which asked students to make a gift to the area of campus that meant the most to their experience while at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ.
