Washington, D.C. Winter Term
During Winter Term of junior year, Teaching Fellows participate in a leadership experience in Washington, D.C. After a few days of classes on campus, Fellows take a bus to D.C. for approximately 10 days of political science seminars to gain an understanding of political context for and the role of media in educational decision-making. They learn from leading journalists, White House personnel and politicians about the workings of the federal government and how to become leaders in educational advocacy. Fellows then return to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ for additional classes to reflect upon their D.C. experiences, learn more about education policy and consider the implications of those experiences for their work as educators.
