Participate in a panel discussion with current physician assistant and physical therapy students to discuss tips for successful preparation and valued healthcare experiences for entry into a PA or PT program
Attend a group advising meeting to learn about local volunteer opportunities and explore available certification opportunities to obtain direct patient care experiences
Obtain approximately 200 hours of volunteer or work experience in a health care setting
Year Two
Volunteer with the Open Door Clinic of Alamance County or H.O.P.E. Clinic and complete critical reflection around healthcare disparities
Attend a group advising meeting to learn about global engagement opportunities
Participate in a leadership workshop to explore social identities and intercultural competencies
Attend a group advising meeting to explore partnerships with undergraduate and graduate research opportunities
Obtain approximately 300-400 hours of volunteer or work experience in a health care setting
Year Three
Take part in an interprofessional educational experience with graduate health professions students
Participate in MMIs that focus on critical thinking skills and professional readiness for a career in health care and complete a self-reflection of the MMI to review with SHS advisor
Attend a group advising meeting to engage in a book club discussion on assigned reading
Complete 5 out of 6 science courses required for admission to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµâ€™s graduate PA or PT programs
Obtain approximately 300-400 hours of volunteer or work experience in a health care setting
Year Four
Complete all prerequisites required for admission to the graduate programs
Submit three letters of recommendation, one from a healthcare professional and one from a faculty member
Complete and submit all volunteer or work experience in healthcare setting
Following completion of all requirements and application submission, participate in a PA or PT interview
