The Honors Program at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ is a community of exceptional students from all majors. This four-year program offers all the best features of an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ education: challenging courses with strong faculty mentors, exciting research opportunities, exposure to international perspectives through global study, and a community of faculty and student inquirers who want to be fully engaged in a rewarding academic experience.

Students in the Honors Program can major in any four-year undergraduate major in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, the School of Communications, the Dr. Jo Watts Williams School of Education, and the School of Health Sciences. Students pursuing dual-degree or accelerated programs are ineligible for the Honors Program.

Program Highlights

  • Consider academic issues from multiple perspectives in small, innovative courses developed specially for the Honors Program
  • Strong support from teachers, professional and peer mentors, and advisors
  • Work alongside a faculty mentor to complete an Honors thesis using your original academic research during junior and senior years
  • Participate in a community of intellectually engaged colleagues with a peer-mentor or by living in one of two Honors Living-Learning Communities (Kenan Pavilion and Colonnades C)
  • Apply to study in Turkey over Winter Term during your first year at a significantly subsidized cost
  • $15,000 Honors Scholarship and $12,000 Presidential Scholarship applied to tuition — $108,000 over the four years of the program
  • Thesis research grant of up to $1,000
  • Study abroad grant of $1,000 for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ-approved programs
  • Additional $4,000 per year for Honors Fellows who plan to attend medical school and apply for Jane M. Baird Pre-Medical Scholarship
  • One William R. Kenan, Jr. Honors Program scholar selected in each class for full tuition scholarship
