Innovation at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ is Where Ideas Meet Action
A Message from Dr. Rebecca Kohn

Rebecca Kohn, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs
The Provost’s Report celebrates the achievements of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s faculty members, staff members and students during the previous calendar year. In this year’s Provost’s Report, we turn our focus toward the bold spirit of innovation that drives our academic community forward, both in the classroom and in realms of discovery that redefine what it means to be a teacher-scholar-mentor. Innovation at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ is about new ideas and the purposeful integration of creativity, inquiry and problem-solving into pedagogy, mentorship, scholarly pursuits and creative work. Our faculty members, staff members and students are forging new pathways that strengthen ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s tradition of relationship-rich education and address complex questions that our world is facing today.
Over the past year, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s nearly 500 full-time faculty members have advanced scholarship and creative work, often in partnership with students, that influences their disciplines and informs student learning. Their accomplishments reflect our enduring commitment to mentorship, engaged learning and inquiry, principles that have long defined ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s approach to undergraduate education. At the same time, they demonstrate how we are reimagining the ways in which students engage with research, creative activity and real-world challenges. Across ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, our community continues to build learning environments that inspire curiosity, cultivate resilience and prepare students to lead with purpose.
The stories featured in this report highlight a range of innovative efforts, from interdisciplinary research collaborations to novel pedagogies that deepen career readiness, from experiential learning that crosses borders to scholarship that impacts communities locally and globally. These narratives affirm what we have always believed: when students are encouraged to think expansively and are supported by dedicated mentors, they discover what they can accomplish and create what the world needs next.
ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s model of relationship-rich education continues to earn national recognition. For the fifth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report ranked ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ #1 for excellence in undergraduate teaching, as well as being named #8 among most innovative national universities. These achievements stem from the commitment and expertise of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s faculty and staff members, whose collaborative nature ensures that students are supported throughout their journey.
I extend my deep appreciation to the faculty members, staff members and students whose ingenuity and dedication propel ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ forward. As we reflect on the achievements of the past year, we also look ahead with confidence, guided by an innovative spirit and committed to excellence in all that we do.
