ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ President Connie Ledoux Book presented the medallion to two retired faculty members and two steadfast supporters of the university during an event marking the start of a new academic year. The university also recognized four named professorships during the event. 

From July 9-20, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ is hosting 176 Alamance-Burlington School System students at Summer in the Village, a summer academic preparedness and enrichment program of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's It Takes a Village Project. 

Monday's gathering on Scott Plaza in front of the Alamance Building offered an opportunity to welcome new and returning members of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy, the university's college access and success program for local high school students.

A member of the Class of 2018 will be able to share this special day with her parents, neither of whom have been out of their home country before. 

Friends, family and supporters gathered with members of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy's Kappa Class to cheer them on as they prepare to attend colleges and universities around the state this fall. 

Among those volunteering with the Village project this semester — members of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's men's and women's basketball teams. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy Kappa Scholar Jenny Te Vazquez has made history by becoming the first of the program's students to be awarded the prestigious Morehead-Cain Scholarship at UNC-Chapel Hill.

The March 24 article in The Times-News of Burlington told the story of Sarah Rawls, a member of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy's first cohort who will begin pursuing her doctorate at Temple University this year.

The NC Emerge 1G Summit was hosted and led by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's Examining Disparities in Educational Access Living Learning Community and drew attendees from students around the state.
