������Ƶ School of Law was represented recently at the United Kingdom's Center for Legal Education Learning in Law Annual Conference held at the University of Warwick in Coventry, UK, by ������Ƶ Law professors Steve Friedland and Bonnie McAlister, and by instructional technologist Christie Dickerman.

On February 4, James B. Leonard, former Deputy Assistant Secretary for Textiles, Apparel and Consumer Goods in the U. S. Department of Commerce, from 2002-2006, spoke to ������Ƶ Law students about the accession of China to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the requirements demanded by the United States in those negotiations.

In the Spring 2009 edition of the John Marshall Journal of Computer and Information Law, ������Ƶ Law's Catherine Dunham, professor and associate dean for academic affairs, and Steve Friedland, professor and director of ������Ƶ Law's Center for Engaged Learning in the Law, co-authored "Portable Learning for the 21st Century Law School: Designing a New Pedagogy for the Modern Global Context."

Hasina I. Lewis, a member of the Class of 2012 at ������Ƶ Law, published an article entitled "Cultivating Diversity in the Law School Classroom," featured in the January edition of the Law Student Division Bulletin of the North Carolina Bar Association.

������Ƶ Law will open on a two-hour delay today (Friday, Feb. 5), due to icy conditions.

Tom and Karen Armstrong, longtime supporters of ������Ƶ's study abroad and service learning programs, recently contributed gifts in support of the law school's Wills Clinic and its veterans scholarship fund.

Franklin McCain, one of the NC A&T students who energized the civil rights movement in 1960 by sitting at a segregated lunch counter in Greensboro, N.C., was the featured speaker at ������Ƶ Law's second annual Martin Luther King, Jr. forum on January 14.

Due to continued icy roads and the aftermath of the weekend snowstorm, ������Ƶ School of Law will close at 9 p.m. on Monday, February 1, and will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2.

On Thursday, February 4, from 4 to 5 p.m., ������Ƶ School of Law will welcome and other special guests from the legal community to socialize with ������Ƶ Law students, faculty, and administration, including as a special guest North Carolina Superior Court Judge Edwin G. Wilson. The event will be held in the Cemala Commons on the second floor of the law school.

Through an intensive "Public Law and Leadership" course in January, second-year ������Ƶ Law students worked with three nonprofit organizations and a government agency on a range of legal issues facing their organizations, from farmland preservation to juvenile substance abuse prevention.
