Chad Hinton and Ryan Stewart, both members of the class of 2009 at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law, reported findings from their survey on the state of mentoring in the Wake County legal community to the Wake County Bar Association on April 30.

George Johnson, dean of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law, spoke with News 14 Carolina news anchor Tracey Early on May 7 about the U.S. Supreme Court and what criteria President Barack Obama may consider when selecting a replacement for Associate Justice David Souter, who announced this month plans to retire at the end of the Court's current term.

Professor Michael W. Lewis, a leading authority on national security and the law of war, appeared at the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law on April 23 for a discussion with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Professor Victor Streib, entitled "9/11 Revisited, An Act of War or An Act of Organized Crime." The event was sponsored by the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law chapter of the Federalist Society.

The charter class of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law is pleased to announce its plans to present a gift to the law school during the Dean's Reception for graduating students on May 23 at 4 p.m. at the law school.

The Rev. Janet Cooper Nelson, the chaplain of Brown University and director of the Office of the Chaplains & Religious Life, will deliver ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s 2009 Baccalaureate sermon on Friday, May 22, at 3 p.m. in the Koury Center.

The Black Law Student Association (BLSA) hosts its 3L Appreciation Banquet on May 1, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Cemala Commons of the law school.

On April 24, thirty freshman from Guilford County’s Walter Hines Page High School participated in mock trials in the Robert E. Long Court Room at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law, as the culminating experience of their three month introduction to trial advocacy taught by students from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law.

The volunteer work of 18 ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ law students, helping low and middle-income residents in the region to file thier tax returns, is featured in the Sunday, April 19 edition of the Greensboro News & Record.
