John Burbridge, a professor of operations and supply chain management, explores the role Jersey City, N.J., played in trying to keep the Dodgers in Brooklyn in “The Brooklyn Dodgers in Jersey City,” which appears in the Summer 2010 issue of The Baseball Research Journal published by the Society for American Baseball Research.

Earl Honeycutt and Sharon Hodge co-authored an article, “Turnover in the Sales Force: A Comparison of Hunters and Farmers,” published in The Journal of Selling & Major Account Management, Volume 9, Number 2 (Spring).

In the 1970s and early 1980s Gary Bailey, former ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ faculty member in human service studies and currently counselor in Health and Counseling Services, was a member of a popular regional R&B group called “Brief Encounter.” A couple of years ago Gary discovered that Brief Encounter has become one of the leading cult R&B groups among record collectors. He was shocked when he noticed that copies of their first album were selling for over $2,000 on eBay. The most recent sale was over $2500. Brief Encounter is back in business and about to release its first recording in nearly 30 years, all for the benefit of Haitian Earthquake Relief.

Former (Burlington, N.C.) Times-News executive editor Don Bolden, retired physical plant assistant director Stanley Greeson and retired professor Linda Thompson Weavil received ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Medallions on Aug. 23, 2010, in an annual ceremony that celebrates the highest honor a person can receive from the university.
