New Voices, the national Jewish student magazine, included ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ in a Nov. 24 article about the boom in Jewish student enrollment at Southern colleges and universities. The story mentions ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, Vanderbilt University, Millsaps College, and the University of Charleston as schools that are experiencing rapid Jewish enrollment growth.

Hunter Bacot, an associate professor of political science and director of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Poll, answered questions from News 14 Carolina on Nov. 14 regarding potential Cabinet selections by President-elect Barack Obama.

The Watauga Democrat newspaper carried a commentary by sports editor Steve Behr regarding the evolution of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ athletics. The article comes as the Phoenix prepares for its Nov. 15 game against the Appalachian State Mountaineers.

Scott Gaylord, an associate professor of law, was quoted in the Nov. 10, 2008, edition of North Carolina Lawyers Weekly, which published an article that detailed a research report Gaylord co-authored this fall for the Federalist Society.

Compared with students at other colleges and universities across the nation, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students are much more likely to study abroad, make class presentations, write papers, complete internships and work closely with faculty members on projects outside of class. Those are among the findings of the 2008 National Survey of Student Engagement, released Nov. 10.
