Summer institute benefits science/math teachers

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ's Department of Mathematics is hosting the third summer institute titled TEAMS (Teachers Empowering all Students in Mathematics and Science), Aug. 2-6. About 60 elementary and middle school teachers from Alamance-Burlington, Vance and Orange counties are on campus for the institute.

Author comes to campus for summer learning academy

Children’s book author Jane Belk Moncure made a visit to campus Tuesday as part of the Summer Learning & Enrichment Academy. Moncure, who earlier this year seeded an early childhood collection for the School of Education with a substantial donation of her books, spent time reading to children enrolled in the enrichment program for students with special classroom needs.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy scholars took part in closing ceremonies Friday evening that included “Presentations of Learning” throughout Alamance building, where families and mentors of 75 high school students could see firsthand the lessons learned over four weeks on campus this summer as part of the academic enrichment and college access program.
