Step 1: Log in to Canvas

You can access Canvas using your ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ credentials atÌý/canvas

  • Log in using your ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ username and password (SSO)
  • Once logged in, you’ll land on your Canvas Dashboard

Before you continue:
After logging in for the first time, as part of setting up your Canvas account. Your account will not be fully functional until you do.

Step 2: Explore your Dashboard

Your Dashboard is your home base in Canvas.

Here, you’ll see:

  • Courses you’ve been assigned to teach (unpublished)
  • One sandbox or practice course

Take a few minutes to explore your dashboard and become familiar with how your courses appear in Canvas.

Step 3: Explore a sandbox or course

Open a course from your Dashboard and take a few minutes to explore:

  • Course navigation
  • Modules
  • Assignments
  • Pages

If you’re using a sandbox, you can explore freely without affecting an active course. If you’re ready to begin preparing a course, visit Prepare Your Course for migration guidance and next steps.

Step 4: Understand your courses

In Canvas:

  • Courses you are assigned will appear on your Dashboard
  • You may need to accept invitations to join some courses

If you’re using Moodle for departmental resources, committee work, or other non-academic purposes, visit Non-Academic Course Migration (coming soon) to learn about your options and determine the best next step.

What to expect next

Once you’ve logged in and become familiar with your Dashboard, your next step is to begin preparing the courses you’ll teach in Canvas.

You can:

  • Move course content from Moodle to Canvas
  • Review how your content transferred
  • Begin organizing and preparing your course
  • Use a workshop or consultation session when you have questions
